This video includes excerpts of Blood of the Earth (2025) steeped in the textures of the Southern United States as experienced by the choreographer in childhood. The opening image, inspired by the work of North Carolina based visual artist Thomas Sayer’s work White Gold. The dance unfolds in three distinct sections defined by the characteristics of mud, water, and finally blood, inviting audiences to resonate with images of land and body. Excerpt from Red Roads Clay/Fertile Earth (2023), a site-specific performance is inspired by the wetlands and red clay of North Carolina. The backdrop of this performance is a wetland at Gale Woods Farm. This piece was filmed during Soiled Dance Series, a festival designed to highlight the land and agriculture, presented as an immersive performance tour.

Excerpt from a solo performed at the Dances ate Lake Festival 2022. Inspired by life’s steps and stumbles, this work began as a series of patio dances during isolation. After three years without a map this work attempts to find a path.

Excerpts of “build/capture 1823-2019” a collaborative screen dance created with textile artist Nancy Julia Hicks. This work premiered at CollabArts Vol.2 in 2019 and was inspired by the power of water. This piece was filmed along the Mississippi River on occupied and unceeded territory of the Dakota People.

Excerpts from a semi-autobiographical solo initially entitled “Don’t Think too Much,” this dance now seeks to find pleasure and power in exhaustion. Don’t you think exhaustion is a good look on me? It becomes you. Thank you to Connecticut College for the space to create and share this work. The performance featured in this video was in memory of Clara Dintaman.

Debuted in 2017, THIS IS MY PROTEST SIGN. is both an honors thesis and dance performance that examines the intersections between dance, identity and social activism. This dance film first appeared as part of an instillation and live performance at the Lyman Allen Museum to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Safe Futures. An early work that later informed the opening section of Blood of the Earth. The original research was performed in Palmer Auditorium by the students in the Connecticut College Department of Dance.

One of the first works of its kind, this piece was inspired by childhood memories of red clay in North Carolina. The creation of this work was a pivotal moment in the choreographers development of their voice. Inspired by mud and dirt, and the various textures it offers crumbling in your hands, squishing between your toes, in the creek behind my house.

Excerpts from a work inspired by ballet, jive, synchronized swimming and the circus, this piece is a labor of love created purely to enjoy. No idea is too much or too ridiculous. This dance was a lot of fun to make and I hope you have just as much fun as you watch!
